Chemie-Fonds supports purchase of teaching equipment with 14.000 Euro

The master study course “Biomedical Chemistry” represents a unique link between the traditional fields of chemistry, pharmacy, biology, and medicine. To ensure that the knowledge acquired during the studies can also be applied practically, students learn special techniques in practical laboratory courses and modules. For this, the “Fonds der Chemischen Industrie” (FCI) supports the purchase of an HPLC instrument with 14,000 Euros.

On June 22, the symbolic check was handed over by Dr. Christine von Landenberg (Member of the Chemieverbände Rheinland-Pfalz) on behalf of the FCI to the chemist Prof. Dr. Peter R. Wich. The Assistant Professor for Medical and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz had submitted the successful application to the “Förderwerk der Chemie”. Dr. von Landenberg emphasized the high value of such courses: “In our research, we need interdisciplinary approaches and solutions. And the industry is looking for such trained experts.”

About the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie:
Since 1950, the FCI has been supporting basic research, young scientists and the teaching of chemistry in schools as a support for the Association of the Chemical Industry. In 2017, the FCI made almost 12 million euros available. For example, the FCI provides numerous scholarships and specifically promotes academic chemistry research in Germany. In addition, the FCI awards prizes and awards to scientists, teachers, textbooks and students, and conducts various scientific events (http://fonds.vci.de).
