The paper describes the double emulsion preparation of nanoparticles that carry enzymes with antibacterial activity. It is the first reported example where both payload and carrier material are protein-biopolymers.

We are excited to announce that we opened our research labs at the School of Chemical Engineering this June!

For some time, we will run our labs in Germany and Australia in parallel and part of the group will remain involved at the Institute for Pharmacy and Biochemistry at the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz (Germany).

The award was given for the complete revision of the German textbook “Beyer/Walter: Organische Chemie”.
The literature prize was given to the three authors Tanja Schirmeister (JGU Mainz), Carsten Schmuck (University Duisburg-Essen, and Peter Wich (JGU Mainz) during the “200th Kuratorium-Sitzung” of the FCI, hosted this year at the Evonik headquarters in Essen.

The paper describes the surface modifications of sugar-based nanoparticles and the influence on immunostimmulatory effects. It is the first paper that shows that DEXylated particles can potentially be used for passive targeting of antigen presenting cells for future immunotherapeutic applications.
